Capital Lighting & Supply Survives a Blow Out!

Nags Head, N.C. - November 28, 2007 - Capital Lighting & Supply (CLS), a subsidiary of Sonepar USA, recently hosted over 150 customers, vendors and employees in The Outer Banks, N.C. for a deep sea fishing trip as part of its “Great Escapes” Customer Incentive Program .

Twenty-five boats were set to take the attendees fishing out of Oregon Inlet that late October Saturday but a front moved through the area creating 15’ to 18’ swells and winds exceeding 40 knots. The result was the Dock Master declaring the day a “blow out” and closing the entire marina preventing all fishing activities.

But quick thinking prevailed. Instead of canceling the event, the CLS marketing team quickly regrouped and organized 25 new boats from five different marinas for the next day and organized an all-day college football party at a local Sports Bar as everyone waited out the off shore weather in anticipation for good fishing on Sunday. At the end of the weekend, all participants went home with a cooler full of fresh fish in time for work on Monday. Other highlights of the trip included a BBQ Welcome Reception on Friday and an Awards Banquet on Sunday.

The “Great Escapes” Customer Incentive Program launched on January 1, 2007 and continues through June 25, 2008. The 18-month customer promotion has featured opportunities for customers to earn trips to several NASCAR outings and the Deep Sea Fishing trip. Upcoming opportunities will include the CLS 2008 NEC Code Seminars and an all inclusive 4-day, 3-night trip to Nashville, TN.
